Why Subaru?

If you have never owned a Subaru in the past, you will quickly learn why Subaru owners are so loyal. Subaru takes pride in the development of their product, and it is proven through the fact that 98% of the Subaru vehicles sold in the last ten years are still on the road today.

BOXER Engine

Every Subaru is equipped with the SUBARU BOXER® Engine. The SUBARU BOXER® Engine is uniquely designed with pistons that lay horizontally instead of vertically. There are several benefits to this particular design combining balance with power and efficiency. The layout of the SUBARU BOXER® Engine allows it to be positioned in-line with the drivetrain, allowing for maximum transfer of power. Many other engines are transverse, or turned perpendicular, and can require additional drivetrain components to transfer power, reducing vehicle efficiency.

With the pistons laying horizontally, the SUBARU BOXER® engine has almost a perfect symmetrical shape and has a lower center of gravity then much of the competition. The symmetry and the low center of gravity make for improved handling and control of your vehicle.

Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive

Not every all-wheel drive (AWD) system is created equally, nor does every AWD system function equally. Subaru's signature Advanced All-Wheel Drive system is like no other. Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive provides an optimal distribution of power to all four wheels for maximum traction. In slippery conditions, power instinctively flows to the wheels with the best traction.

The SUBARU BOXER® Engine truly works together with the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, as the engine is mounted in-line with the drivetrain, helping provide a seamless transfer of power to all four wheels. Other AWD systems need additional drivetrain components to route the same power to the wheels, often using complex designs. More components tend to reduce vehicle efficiency and could add to higher maintenance costs.

Subaru has been awarded a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for every model in the Subaru lineup. What's more, is that this feat has not only been accomplished once, rather Subaru achieved this honor in four consecutive years. No other manufacture can say this.

Subaru also incorporates Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC), which automatically senses steering and braking inputs to help keep the vehicle on the driver's intended path. The VDC system also includes an all-wheel all-speed traction control system.

In stopping situations, the Anti-Lock Braking system (ABS) pulses braking power to help prevent wheel lockup. Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) optimizes the distribution of braking force between the front and rear wheels according to how the vehicle is loaded with passengers and cargo. And the Brake Assist system helps ensure maximum pressure is applied to the brakes as quickly as possible in an emergency situation.

Engineering & Technology

Lineartronic® CVT. It stands for Continuously Variable Transmission, and this innovative technology has been engineered to work seamlessly with the SUBARU BOXER® engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive to help reduce fuel consumption. The stepless gear ratio allows the engine to run within its optimal power range for improved fuel economy, while its lightweight, compact design helps the vehicle stay as agile as it can be.

Dependable and lightweight manual transmissions give passionate drivers a range to express their personal driving style. The coated synchromesh gears of the five- or six-speed manual transmissions make every shift smooth and efficient for fluid and exciting acceleration.

Every Subaru vehicle comes with the enhanced balance of a four-wheel independent suspension system, helping to smooth out those bumpy back roads and give taut responsiveness to handling the rigors of the urban jungle. You'll always feel in touch with the road while hardly feeling it at all.
